Brahmacharya

Day 76: One thing I learned today…

Continuing with the Yamas, Brahmacharya means restraint. This has also been translated as celibacy and traditionally the meant to conserve sexual energy. In general, consider where your energy is directed. Here are some ways in which we can implement this into our daily lives.

  • Allowing yourself to do just as you need rather than trying to continually keep up with others.

  • Create a loving relationship with ourselves before entering into one with others.

  • Avoid consumption which tempts us.

  • Understanding we have everything we need.

  • Unplugging.

Restraint is hard. I am typically pretty good about sticking to food which support me however, once I go down the rabbit hole of eating junk food… there is no holding back. I will sometimes eat until my stomach hurts. I also find myself being consumed by temptations which I can always justify. “I NEEDED another bike,” or my favorite quote “it was on sale.”
