Day 85: One thing I learned today…

Meditation switches the default of our brain and can provide cognitive and psychological benefits. The default mind is what you sense as the voice in your mind and is most active when we are awake. It’s when we are thinking about ourselves, remembering the past and thinking about the future.

The Harvard Gazette reported participating in an eight- week mindfulness meditation program appeared to make measurable changes in the brain. Participants reported a decrease in stress however more interestingly, MR images were collected 2 weeks prior to and after the 8-week program. An analysis of the images showed differences in the areas important for learning and memory and structures associated with self-awareness and compassion.

Now participants did average 27 minutes

of daily practice. What do you think? Would this be worth it to you?
