Day 281: One thing I learned today…

Do you get sleepy while driving?

Research indicates certain odors can enhance motivation, performance, and alertness. These odors include cinnamon and peppermint. An experiment was conducted to try to mimics the fatigue associated with driving for long periods of time. Three groups were compared. One received cinnamon and another received peppermint (at a rate of 30 seconds every 15 minutes). These two groups were compared to the control group of no odor. It was reported that those who received the odor increased ratings of alertness. It was also reported the level of frustration was lower as well.
