Day 208: One thing I learned today…

I recently completed a Health Mindset Coaching Certification with Dr. Kasey Jo Orvidas, PhD.

During the course, she presented many research articles based on mindset. I continue to receive her newsletters with related research. Today I learned the term “fresh start effect”

Temporal landmarks aka moments that stand out in time and are meaningful in some way (think of starting a new position, taking time off, moving, etc). These landmarks then structure the perception of peoples time. People tend to think before and after certain temporal landmarks. Past self vs current self. These landmarks also can produce a “fresh start effect” which research shows people tend to feel more motivated leading up to or right after a temporal landmark.

Thoughts? Have you experienced this?
