Happiness

Day 83: One thing I learned today…

There is a genetic factor to our happiness however it’s smaller than you think. Heritability makes up about 40-50% of our happiness which means the rest is in our hands… Well researchers say about 40% is in our hands leaving that extra 10-20% up to life circumstances.

I was listening to a podcast which describes this data so I started to do a bit of research. Come to find, like with all research, I can find info both supporting and not supporting these findings.

For myself however, as I have started to introduce self-compassion practices, gratitude and self care routines. I have come to find more happiness in my life. I think there is something to say about the way we act, our behavior, and our mindset. There is opportunity to shape our happiness. I am the author of my book and I will continue these practices because I have noticed the benefit.

Thoughts? 💭 Do you try to find happiness in what life has to offer?
