Day 229: One thing I learned today…

I spent the day reviewing research articles for the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis (JABA). As a Behavior Analyst I realized there is much more research than I realized dating back to the 70s.

I came across a recent article using the TAGteach method for 5 different beginner yoga poses. As a behavior analyst, I thought this was extremely cool. Poses were broken down into steps (17 to be exact). Auditory feedback was given to the student when correctly performing each step. The beginner students were able to take the direct feedback and apply it and learn the poses.

As a yoga practitioner, I am not sure how “cool” I think this is. Asana (physical practice) is not about the exact position. It is about what feels right in ones body. One pose for one person may not look he same for another person. That is okay!
