Day 179: One thing I learned today…
If given the choice, would you prefer a quiet commute on a train or interacting with others?
When surveyed 84% of people were in favor of a quiet car… but is that really what people prefer?
From there a study was conducted with individuals who commuted. Participants were assigned to one of three groups.
Group 1 - keep to self (solitude)
Group 2- do what you normally do
Group 3- try to make a connection and get to know a person
People reported the most positive commute in the connection group.
Researchers have found connecting with others to be an important determinant of happiness, so why did 84% of people favor a quiet car.
