Day 269: One thing I learned today…

Sleep Apnea is linked to oral health.

Dr Steven Lin is a functional dentist who was recently on the Muscle Maven Radio Podcast. He notes that functional dentistry aims to find the root cause of conditions such as crocked teeth and breathing issues with can be related to jaw and facial structure. I learned so much, I am probably going to re-listen to the episode.

Other interesting points:

🦷 Tooth decay is actually an issue with the immune system.

👄 The mouth is connected to the digestive system which is connected to the immune system.

👅 Tongue posture is a thing - the tongue should sit up behind the top front teeth.

☀️ Vitamin D levels are connected to tooth decay.

👃 You need to breathe deeply through the nose in order for the brain to complete its sleep cycles.

If you are interested, he has a book titled the Dental Diet.
