Day 180: One thing I learned today…

I am sure you have heard of visualization or mental practices. Many athletes use visualization as part of training. Thinking about crossing a finish line before others, running faster, scoring a goal etc.

So what happens when you visualize eating junk food?

Today I’m sharing another study. The study compared two groups. One imagined putting 30 coins into a laundry machine slowly, one by one. The other group imagined eating 30 pieces of M&Ms slowly, one by one. Then afterwards the participants had access to real M&Ms. the group who imaged eating M&Ms ate about half as many as those who imagined putting coins into a laundry machine. Hypothesizing that imagining eating a food feels so real that you actually eat less.
