Day 246: One thing I learned today…

I learned about the rabbit effect.

It’s based on a single study where researchers didn’t understand why some of the “unhealthy” group of rabbits was not showing signs of being unhealthy. The study was from 1970 led by Dr. Robert Nermen. Out of the rabbits who were fed a high fat/ high cholesterol diet, a group of the rabbits had significantly better outcomes. These rabbits were almost genetically identical. The researchers found that these rabbits were tended to be a kind researcher who would talk to, pet and play with the rabbits.

This goes to show it is more than just the food we eat. Everything we do, everyone we encounter plays a role in our health. This includes the way we treat ourselves as well.
